The story did quite well on Digg and on Reddit, with Reddit users noticing that one of the fish forms actually looked very much like the Reddit logo. That story hit the front page of Reddit and on Digg , and 67 people voted on my comment : Props to Reddit for visibly interacting with the community it serves.

Networks like Digg, FriendFeed, and Facebook are seeing huge growths in value, but the little guys, the ones actually providing the meat and potatoes for those operations, rarely see a nickel. Just like it’s not uncommon for someone to click the “Digg&# button on Digg without ever visiting the site.

There are several other options, such as Flickr, Tumblr, WordPress, Blogger, etc… even Ping.fm. Just like Posterous, you can use Amplify as your primary blogging platform, as well as auto-post to your own blog. It really is a community. I don’t auto-post to all of those, but it’s nice to have the option.
