If you can get links with good anchor text, from high quality resources, then you can outrank a site which has far more links than you. Spam costs us untold hours manually moderating all that junk to find real comments.

However, I have had a number of blog posts go live on popular sites this month that have contributed to the growth. I also ran a small experiment that meant I paid people with over 500 Facebook friends $10 to post a link to my RSS feed.
