I needed to differentiate Digg from social media because they actually are part of a distinctive community (and as you know, I’m very passionate about Digg so it really did deserve its own category). So the question is–are there things that today’s B2B marketers can learn from history, specifically, the tremendous success of Facebook and the rise, fall and possible resurrection of Myspace? From its founding, Myspace took off like a rocket ship while Facebook had a much slower ascension from launch. My answer is certainly–yes!

The launch of Geocities by Yahoo marked for some the beginning of a new revolution in the online media called social networking. Today, MySpace can be grouped under this category. Classmates.com and MySpace are two social networks in their decline stage. I think most of us agree that MySpace is dead. Like this post?

Ask Yahoo, MySpace or … , all major networks that ruled heavily at one time and all which fell from grace to other up and comers. Have you ever heard anyone ever say something positive about Facebook when it comes to customer service, feedback consideration or anything when it comes to community interaction?
