Freebies vs. updates. Take a look through the “ Blog Promotion ” category for help with increasing traffic. I’ve definitely noticed a correlation between quality of content and opt-in conversions on my two most popular blogs. On my health blog, my “Subscribe For Updates” opt-in form at the top of the sidebar converts at just 1.5%.

Create a “toolbox” of freebies that only subscribers get access to (think of it like the free ebook strategy, only kicked up a notch). Unless your blog as 1000+ posts, you don’t need a search bar, categories—none of that stuff. What you do need is a fast loading site that converts well, so make it happen.

Most people explicitly join Facebook because they want exclusives, deals, and freebies. For a multinational, their large account category ($1.2M+ annual spend) is no big deal. Facebook has really edged out a large consumer group in the small-medium sized businesses category. Way to take much of that away.
