[Social Media] Correlation/Causality Confusion
As the social media space slowly matures, we’re starting to see more and more reports released by companies offering insight into the ebbs and flows of peoples’ behaviour online. When a brand or a cause attempts to use humor - especially in the age of social media, where information, rumors and outrage fly fast and furious - it has to be used carefully. Or slapstick teams use physical gaffes to go for the primeval notion that when someone else gets hurt, we laugh. Comedy on the heels of tragedy helps forge a bond for those who have suffered together, in an effort to pull them through. Not so much.

[Social Media] Marketers Hunt and Customers Watch
It isn’t and if you use social media with your institutional thinking for both you lose. That isn’t what the human network refers to “being social” However most marketing efforts reflect a “get and keep them” sentiment and that is how buyers feel and talk about your marketing efforts. The language that comes with marketing, especially in terms of all things social, has evolved into something that sounds like a droid trolling for “friends” rather than a human engaging with sincere intent. Lets be real.

[Social Media] Forget Indexing Tweets: Google Is Pulling Them Directly from the API
When Google rolled out with Caffeine last year, the idea was to speed up the way that the search engine was able to index pages, particularly for use in real-time social media searches. It’s a cool feature, but it’s just an addition to what they’ve already been saying for a couple of years (and proclaiming more openly in December) about how social signals are playing a roll in their algorithm. Apparently, that wasn’t fast enough, so they’re going straight to the source. We just ran a test of our own (above). What does this mean? Not much.

Members can display the badges on their social media accounts. Both badges and stickers are good idea. They're even better when you can tie it into a topical event/occurance. Why not give all members a virtual badge that states their position (and the community's position) on a relevant topic. This might be a controversial issue in the sector. The truth is that Marketing is changing, shifting and adapting. A lot of those changes have to do with Social Media, but not all of them. Prior to Social Media, we still had people connecting and sharing ideas (online and otherwise). Whether you're using a more complex Social Media monitoring tool like Radian6 or Sysomos or using free tools like Google Alerts and Twitter Search , there really is no excuse not to know what people are saying, where they're saying it, how much of a network they're connected to, and what the overall sentiment is. consumer.

But what's even more interesting (to me, at least) is that there will be a social aspect to the apps: if you visit a friend's Timeline and see an app that interests you, you'll be able to instantly put it on your own. There's no question that if you create good content - both on and off of Facebook (let's not forget that Facebook should be only part of your overall social media strategy) - people will naturally want to share it, which means it will end up in the newsfeed eventually. If you authorize an app, your actions will automatically be posted. Create engaging content.
