[Social Media] The Desert of Community Building
One of the most crystallizing moments of my online career was when Ike Pigott said social media was an organic process. Her sentiments mirror many others on social networks who find themselves literally assaulted with marketers’ messages trying to persuade them about the values of their wares or causes. This is the point that many organizations quit, letting their social effort lie fallow. Comments may be used in the final edition.

[Social Media] Boosting Content and Fighting Spam Using Google Author Rank
One of the overarching trends over the past 18 months in ranking factors is the increased importance of social signals. Links from Google+, Twitter and other social media players have become factors in calculating rank – and they are growing in importance. Over the past 18 months there has been increased speculation that the concept of “author rank” will play a more important role in determining the value of content (including links) that gets shared, especially on social media platforms. [Social Media] Effective Online Marketing Requires Time
Limited social media posting. It’s no secret that the smaller your budget the more time you’re going to have to give your online marketing to work. If you can only afford $200/month in developing your online marketing strategy , then you won’t – you can’t – be as effective as the company that can afford $2,000/month. That doesn’t mean you should give up. Small businesses are at no more a disadvantage online than they’ve ever been at anything else. You have a smaller budget, but that just means you have to get creative.
