Yelp, like that ex of yours, is a great resource for information on local businesses, showing restaurants’ hours and menu offerings, publishing user reviews of everything from beauty salons to churches, and listing great local events around Boston. Twitter is also a great recommendation engine, though not necessarily what it was designed for.

Why should I like your brand?

Without a doubt each one of these stores had a callout to “like them on Facebook,” or to “check-in on foursquare” or to “follow us on Twitter”. Twitter – minimal conversation and mostly push marketing. There are plenty of things that could be added to this list and would love to hear what you would add to the list.
