In this column and across my other posts, I have often called out Facebook, Google and other companies  for privacy invasions that torpedo any trust that we as consumers can possibly have in the resolve of these Web giants to respect the integrity of our personal data. Despite my consistent begging for true wireless power ( since 2007 , at least ), as ubiquitous as WiFi, only baby steps have been taken in the last few years to divorce us from our dependence on power cords to satiate our hungry electronic devices. I've been absolutely comfortable taking Google's Chrome CR-48 notebook with me without packing my power cord, and can see eight hours of continual use before searching for a solution, and the Samsung Galaxy Tab, so long as its brightness is not at the highest position, simply needs to be charged each night, after a full day's work. Co-organizer Patrick Ashmalla and I are presenting together on Google Project Glass and augmented reality. Google Project Glass promises to take ubiquitous mobile Internet access and layer unprecedented information into our day-to-day existence. While Google doesn’t like the term augmented reality, wearable computing could move this concept from a geeky work in progress to a breakthrough Internet application. So where does Google stand? Outgoing Google CEO Eric Schmidt used his keynote address to drive home a single message about the real future of the medium. As Google’s Schmidt put it: “This device (the smartphone) has 20,000 more computing capabilities than the lunar mission.
