Social media connections are those I know through a variety of online forums, the blogosphere, Twitter, and the like (but I generally don’t befriend someone immediately; I still give it time). The Irony: MySpace Okay, so in my previous paragraph, I mention that you should be an early adopter of social networks.

Nearly four months later, the social features appear to be here to stay. As Digg becomes more of a social network and less of a social news network (or a hybrid that incorporates both elements), it has a lot of obstacles it needs to face. My current Digg settings prohibit anyone from seeing my Digg shouts.

In the past few weeks, however, even Digg’s other top users are seeing that Digg is becoming more difficult of a social news site to enjoy, and after stepping away from Digg for awhile, I have some thoughts and reflections on how it was and possibly how it should be. The community had to react.

The story did quite well on Digg and on Reddit, with Reddit users noticing that one of the fish forms actually looked very much like the Reddit logo. That story hit the front page of Reddit and on Digg , and 67 people voted on my comment : Props to Reddit for visibly interacting with the community it serves.
