As the site owner/community manager, I even had someone threaten to come to my house in person so he could discuss the fact that I edited one of his posts for racist comments. 2) Don’t argue just to argue – Community managers can spot them a mile away. Trolls who like to just stir the pot and start arguments.

When my company, Small Business Trends, LLC, first purchased BizSugar in the summer of 2009, the best way I could describe it was as a miniature version of Digg, except that BizSugar focused soley on sharing information geared toward small and mid-sized businesses. Work on Building a Community. A community does not build itself.

I’m excited to… I don’t know how to follow that up. Digg died this week, basically, I guess Digg died several weeks ago but like it officially died this week. DJ Waldow: I think Stephen Covey died, that to me, that’s a little more real than Digg dying. For me Digg was never that community for me.

After seeing how it panned out, I have to say that I’m not impressed. Here’s a screenshot of a story that became popular with a whopping 235 Diggs. This is a Digg submission from August 17th: The problem is quite evident that the most dedicated and seasoned users are feeling the brunt of the impact.
