Last Tuesday’s Association Chat was on the thorny topic of diversity, following on from issues raised after #ASAE10 and our Sweetspot webcast from last week with DELP scholar Stefanie Reeves. We actually noted during the conversation how hard it was to talk about diversity issues! Relegated to committees. 6:17 pm.

With 1300 committees, 11 dues-paying divisions, 17 roundtables, 57 sections and a myriad of possible membership combinations, members had trouble figuring out how to get involved. 18 months ago another group of young librarians emerged to explore how ALA could reach out and engage them. The group is open to all, members and nonmembers.

She’s also a committee member of Black@, a Sprout community resource group. Beyond their product, they also have internal initiatives including employee resource groups, called Pinclusion groups. In 2023, they hosted their inaugural Pinclusion Group Leadership Summit.
