Aside from the fact that web properties like Geocities and Posterous have been cut off from the World Wide Web – and it could happen to Tumblr too – Tumblr might actually be a good way to help you attract new readers for your blog and new customers for your business. That’s not to say that Tumblr is for everyone.

Remember, the more you clean up those old posts the more they will pay you back with increased search engine traffic or organic traffic from social networks like Twitter and Facebook. Re-evealuate your sidebar(s) – Page load time is a factor in your search engine ranking, so find ways to minimize that load time.

Today, the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) released its yearly E-Business Report, which takes an in-depth look at user satisfaction with social media, as well as portals and search engines, and news and opinion websites. Tumblr played a huge part in making that happen, and I’d like to share my almost accidental findings. The post was well optimized for the phrase “Dockers Alpha Khakis” and search engines have since sent my site a good amount of traffic for those keywords. One of Fashables readers evidently liked the photo enough to share it on Tumblr.
