Microsoft Buys 26 Contosoyams Domain Names

Microsoft is up to something. I’m not sure what, but I am really curious as to why Microsoft recently registered 26 domain names at once: all related to the word contosoyams. The whole reason I bring this up is that Microsoft doesn’t normally register a lot of domain names all at once like this.

In the past 24 hours, Microsoft has registered 43 new domain names–all related to their new Microsoft Surface tablet. These new domain registrations were done a day after their announcement of this new product. microsoft-surface-tablet.com. microsoft-surface-tablet.com. cloudgovapp.com.

Microsoft Buys 8 Search Engine Optimization Domain Names

Microsoft has purchased eight domain names related to search engine optimization (SEO). I am not quite sure about the reasoning behind this move by Microsoft, the owner of the Bing.com search engine. What I find particularly interesting, though, is that there aren’t any.COM domains on the list. bingseo.info.

Microsoft Fails to Renew Engyro Domain Name

Microsoft failed to renew the domain name Engyro.com recently when it came up for renewal. The domain name doesn’t currently resolve (at least not for me). Here are other domain names that Microsoft did not renew on April 7, 2014: diagram.biz. Domain Names' diagrams.biz.
