I don’t feel guest blogging is bad, nor that all bloggers who do it will be penalized by Google. They weren’t trusted websites.

If I owned the site, I would do basic things such as: Reverse the order of the phrases in the title tag Remove the site name from the heading on the site Show more of their blog posts on the homepage Remove the default Wordpress links from the sidebar These changes, with a few quality links, would help push them up the rankings.
