I promote good content. Devoting a mere 15-30 minutes every day to keep the content fresh and engaging should be sufficient. I ran a sports site until just recently, and I LOVED to talk sports from that Twitter account. I promote new people. I promote friends. I even enter contests. Always focus on your primary account.
