Whenever I present or give classes on monetizing social networks and online communities people usually have two questions. Virtual Real Estate a tough one again if you are not a virtual world like Second Life but how about a special forum for payment. Threadless, YouTube, MySpace have all had that in the past.

We look at Freemium revenue in social networks and online communities including asking that: if freemium is the business model of giving it all (or most) of the services away for free , how can you then charge for it? per member per year over at MySpace is NOT high. Freemium and TV Film Newspapers. advertising? A mugs game?
