Have you been put in Klout timeout?

Unspoken

I asked Klout why my Network Influence Score was dropping down every Wednesday for 3 – 4 points. The answer I received from Klout is shocking. If you are still under the spell of Klout, be sure that you don't spend much time engaging and supporting your friends who are new to Social Media. It's seems Klout doesn't assign influence to true Social Media relationships. Digg Digg.

The Content Convergence Dilemma: Where’s the Content Department?

Adam Cohen

By now most companies have figured out that good content is critical in a digital presence. That content can take many forms – user-generated, interactive, structured (data), marketing, conversational, and others. What I’ve seen in the last month is that most companies still struggle internally with content ownership – who owns the generation? Who owns the publishing?

Are Schools Killing Creativity?

Spin Sucks

Today’s guest post is written by Craig McBreen. Years ago, there was a boy who spent much of his school day staring out the window, daydreaming. To him, school was like the clink – a penitentiary so void of inspiration his imagination often left the room. His creative spirit needed an outlet, but it was so stifling in there. Kids dream big. Innate abilities lost over time? Weird is in.

Facebook by the Numbers [infographic]

Mindjumpers

Tweet The online social media news site, Mashable , has put together a very nice infographic giving an overview of the current state of the social platform Facebook. We all probably know that more than 800 million active users are currently on Facebook, but what we should especially notice is that more than 50% of these log into Facebook every day. Foursquare Has Hit The 10 Mill Mark [infographic].

How To Optimize Your B2B White Papers For Google

PWB Marketing Blog

If you’re like most B2B companies, you have white papers, case studies, articles, product brochures, and a lot of other marketing, sales, and thought leadership documents. The fact is if your content can’t be found by Google, your white paper (and other writings) will get limited traffic. It really doesn’t matter how important your white paper is. So how do you get your stuff noticed?

Build Memorable Stories And Infectious Customer Experiences

Firebelly

Never lose sight of what matter at the foundational level. I’m amazed at the great lengths that brands will go to with their marketing without paying the slightest attention to the foundation of great word of mouth and, really, all marketing – the story and customer experiences. I was in San Francisco last week to speak at the “Socialize” Conference. We want to share them.

Drive Toward Social Intelligence Maturity

Propelling your organization to new levels of social intelligence skill and application is essential for maximizing the value of your listening and monitoring efforts.

Unlimited Capacity

Twist Image

What do you need to turn your ideas and thoughts into a reality? Painting is hard. First, you need the money to buy all of the materials (canvas, brushes, paints, easel, etc.), then you need years of practice to understand the intricate techniques to nurture your spark and flow. All of the arts are like this (I would lump making movies, music, photography and even writing in here). The gift: the ability to create with an unlimited capacity. My current love affair with my MacBook Air is well documented. But, it's more than what it does. it's how it makes me feel. Unlimited choices to create.

The Social Diamond

Engaging Brand

Social circles are all around us.and yet it bothers me that we create, share and network with circles. tell you why. Circles are enclosed. Circles go round in.well circles. Social circles therefore by definition can be insular and reshare, repost and rehash the same ideas and concepts. prefer to think of my network as a SOCIAL  DIAMOND. help bring light and make my social diamond.

Competing with Free

Direct Marketing Observations

Every day we’re faced with free and I hate it… Marketers throw free around like it’s confetti. Consumers snap up free stuff because it’s free. But does free work ? Does giving stuff away for free make you eventually buy stuff? No, generally not. I’ve often said that the majority of people that follow brands on Facebook do it not because they are supposed brand champions  but purely because they are hoping to get something out of the engagement. Something free. Why would you follow Nike on Facebook? Or Gatorade or American Eagle ? Because of the cool videos? Uh no.

Vinod Khosla’s 5-Second Slide Rule

Socialized

In a recent Forbes article, Vinod Khosla's Five-Second Slide Rule, with contributions by presentation expert Jerry Weissman, venture capitalist and Sun Microsystems co-founder talks about his five-second slide rule. At first I thought he meant one of these: Apparently, though, Khosla tests presentations slides to ensure they are not dense: For each

The Secret to Explosive Blog Growth

ProBlogger

This guest post is by Aman Basanti of Ageofmarketing.com. Since launching my blog on the psychology of buying in mid-May, I have often wondered whether I am missing something; whether there is a secret to growing the traffic on my blog that I do not know about. Am I not commenting on the right blogs? Am I not writing enough guest posts? Am I not submitting my links to the right social media sites? Am I not aware of some cheap advertising source? But the more I look for that secret, the more I am convinced that there is no one secret. Allow me to me explain. Image created by author.

NFL Week 8 Social Media Picks

Jeff Esposito

Man is it me or is the NFL season flying by? It has been awesome to watch this season progress as teams are starting to pull away from the pack and establish the lead horses for the playoffs. Notice I am trying to move the conversation away from the Ravens’ debacle on Monday night. Seven weeks into the season, and the formula has me sitting at 54-50 after an 8-5 showing in Week 7. How To Get Instant Credibility

Small Business Mavericks

If you are a small business owner and trying to pave a path to your door for your customers to follow in getting to know you better and do business with you, then the one thing you should prioritize above everything else is writing a book. That’s right. Writing and publishing a book will give you instant credibility. Here’s why. When people hold something tangible in their hands, they know it’s real. When you have your name on the cover of a book, you become an instant authority. Remember, the first half of “authority” is “author.” It’s not easy.

If you’re going to use social media, make sure you use it to be social!

Danny WhatMough

As you may have picked up already today, we have released our second report investigating how some of the UK’s leading technology companies are using social media. You can download it here. For the second year in a row, we found that UK technology companies are missing out on the potential of social media by not being social and failing to use these new channels to engage with their audiences.

An Easy Request for Listening Vendors

Net-Savvy Executive

Is your company in the listening business? Monitoring, measuring, analyzing social media? Using your own technology (not third party tools)? have a simple request for you. It involves very little effort on your part, and there's free marketing in it for you. Ready? I'm in the process of turning my database of listening companies, which I've compiled over the last five years, into an online reference for everybody. Since the killer part of my earlier research projects was writing descriptions of every company, I'm letting you write your own, this time. The directory goes live next week.
