And if I didn’t, I would set up Google Reader or a NetVibes page with Twitter and blog RSS feeds from only the top bloggers that interest me.

Get notifications via Gmail Notifier : Google Notifier is a small app that tells me about new incoming email, much like Outlook does with its native app. I know desktop notifications now exist, but I guess the developers of that new feature didn’t realize a better tool that isn’t confined to Chrome has been around for 5 years now.
