I’m taking two seminar courses at school this term, and they each resemble a particular form of social media. We pause for 10 minutes, and when we return, the class asks questions or makes comments, to which Professor Jutras responds. Then the comments come in, and a conversation takes place. I see this seminar as a blog.

And these three social networks, which were based on very similar concepts, predated the Facebook that we know and love today. In the past few weeks, however, even Digg’s other top users are seeing that Digg is becoming more difficult of a social news site to enjoy, and after stepping away from Digg for awhile, I have some thoughts and reflections on how it was and possibly how it should be. The community had to react.

How do you get your news? In the past I have variously read newspapers, watched TV news bulletins, read news.bbc.co.uk If you use Twitter regularly, you’d see that it wins as a social news site that provides instantaneous news — at least of that caliber. and obviously more recently sites such as Digg.
