We are now developing an open source "business application platform" (think salesforce.com). I was using Gmail as a repository of site logings, passwords etc. It also allows a user to then tag and save the page in Furl and del.icio.us (among other social bookmarking options) when they read it in their e-mail.

This article has been compiled after tracking recent conversations in the blogosphere and following social bookmarks. Whereas an ePortfolio contains actual assets for the purpose of reflection, assessment or self-promotion, the PLE includes a broader repository that also includes links and commentary for all three purposes.
