RSS does continue to drive traffic (at least, my Feedburner stats seem to indicate that) but as I look at my own statistics to see where people are arriving on my sites from, the percentage of those coming from RSS/Feedburner seems to be on the decline. Search Engines.

I subscribe to many e-newsletters (like Mashable , MediaPost and more) that provide me with a quick glance into what's going on. My fear is that when Google Reader goes and Feedburner could be next (which has been on a deathwatch ), that it diminishes the ways in which people can find, share and add to this type of content. feedburner.

Like many early stage bloggers, for months I obsessed about seeing the chiclet count on my Feedburner badge hit 1,000, only to find that it wouldn’t do much for me other than inflate my ego. Top add to that Feedburner became completely unreliable and the subscriber count fluctuated dramatically on a weekly basis.

I have been using it ever since FeedBurner went away and I have never regretted that choice. One of the really popular RSS solutions is FeedBlitz.

After a year and a half, the Feedburner chicklet showed 7,000 readers. – and see whether you could add a regular article to their mailing list or newsletter. It took 7 months to hit 500 subscribers, 1 year to hit 1,000 (and this is when having 1,000 subscribers was very rare) and just 3 more months to hit 4,000.
