After I had a list of possible names, I googled each one in quotation brackets to see if it pulled up in a search result. If it didn’t, I would visit GoDaddy and see if the domain name was taken. You can’t just use the name alone, except when buying the domain name for the company.

It looks like you bought the domain around May of 2006, and it had some links already (it’s not 11 years old): the site does not look like it did in 1999 and even in 2005, so it may have been an expired domain: did you pick up the domain name and start building links (which were not the same quality as it already had)?

The brand name was registered in the United Kingdom as a trade mark of their supplier. We even had the US company buy the domain name for $3,000.
