Welcome Direct Messages are both a useful tool and the bane of the Twitter existence. I tried their paid service and I just felt that that overall, the services were clunky and in some cases, redundant to tools I like better. What’s your social currency? For those services, I use and suggest SocialOomph.

Two key metrics I check include: Traffic - It’s hard to get exact numbers, but you can at least compare the traffic of another site to your own. Free Research Tools. It isn’t that we need a tool that does everything. Its that we need a tool that does what it does really well. As a blogger, there are numerous tools at your disposal to track how your content is doing. Overall, I like PostRank, its a relatively new tool so I suspect that they will continue to improve.
