I said from day one that I would do a case study of this sites’ traffic for one year, and that’s what I’ve done. Subscriber Stats Feedburner is so erratic that I just can’t take it that seriously anymore. Also, sometimes Google can move your site around a lot until it settles.

Just make sure to be vigilant about moderating your comments – linking to good blogs and blog posts doesn’t hurt, but linking to bad sites might. I created what I consider a rather extensive list of guest post guidelines , although I have seen sites with a more comprehensive list. Isn’t Feedburner my mailing list?

Directory submissions can be performed automatically in a spammy way, too, but then you have the Best of The Web directory, the Yahoo directory and Dmoz which, after all this time, Google still seem to give credit for having a mention there.
