It can cause bloggers to start rethinking their content strategy and possibly even considering whether or not they should continue blogging. Usually they tell me that their seeing their content being shared online but they still wish they were getting the comments on their blog. Sometimes the comments are even better than the post.

The easiest thing to do is to setup your keywords to be delivered via RSS to the feed reader of your choice (google reader, bloglines, etc). Following in the hopes they will follow you back and buy your stuff is not a good strategy.

Twitter as a feed reader (for more important feeds). I subscribe to nearly 150 feeds and have no systematic way of reading them ( unlike Robert Scoble ). Sometimes, I’ll read the noisier (and most frequently updated) feeds first so I can tune into the more important feeds later.

You can see how many people are subscribing to your RSS feed and from which sources, and if you use the new Google Analytics integration, you can see how many clicks each individual post is getting from feed readers. A site’s authority may rapidly rise and fall depending on what the blogosphere is discussing at the moment, and how often a site produces content being referenced by other sites. The audience of politics and web news blogs are far more likely to link to content they enjoy, rather than the readers of gossip blogs.
