And while tweets, likes, and +1’s are now becoming important ranking factors alongside links, having websites link back to you is very much still a basic requirement for getting search engine fueled website traffic. Digg is great for traffic generation, and while not the powerhouse it once was, is still a large community.

Vanessa Fox did an extensive write-up for Search Engine Land which covers the changes in detail. I can’t imagine they would, especially when virtually no one outside of the developer and SEO communities is even aware that this change has taken place. Later, social networks like Digg, Last.fm, and others were affected as well. Remember that link building should not just be solely for increasing search engine rankings or building up PageRank. Join communities like My Blog Guest. Not sure if your favorite website, link source, or network was hit by Panda? Use Google Authorship.

Although I don’t have any goals for the size of the community here, I still think it is an interesting metric to monitor. I’m about two weeks away from releasing my first software product, and I can’t wait to see the reaction in the marketing community. I hope this month is a great one for all of you!
