SXSW 2011: Strong on Networking; Less on Content

I went to some interesting sessions ( Gary Vaynerchuk was again a SXSW highlight, while Angela LoSasso ( disclosure: client ), Adam Lavelle and Siobhan Quinn did a great panel on real-time marketing) but avoided many others. Twitter got its big break-through at SXSW in 2007. No breakout companies this year.

The survey also showed that teens are significantly less likely that Gen Y and adults to use Twitter. Blogging by teens (ages 12-17) has been cut in half - from 28 percent in 2006 to 14 percent in 2009. Where did they go? Social networking sites (SNS). 73 percent of teens and 72 percent of Gen Y are now active on at least one SNS.
