What seemed like a pretty basic message about an upgrade message of their current email system which is rather archaic (you know, the one that makes you delete messages one by one!) If Facebook can create this type of rich interaction with their Fan Pages and now their email systems – then why would you need an external email vendor?

In the social networking category, Mark Zuckerberg, the Founder of Facebook , beat out Kevin Rose, the Founder of Digg. In the search category, the heads of Google , Microsoft , and Yahoo! Stefan Weitz of Microsoft and Carol Bartz of Yahoo were also named, and Jason Calacanis was also named in the Search category.

What happens if Yahoo also launches a social platform around it’s email service integrated with flickr? Better still: What happens if Microsoft launches a social platform around outlook email application? The scene is similar now- Social Networking scene is dominated by Facebook and Twitter.

A platform should have an extensibility model, a content management model, a user profiling/membership model, a rating/reputation system (for content and authors), and registration system, etc, etc, etc…you get the idea. I think the same is true for the bevy of social tools. I describe this as hearing systems.
