On Google+, Pinterest, Twitter, and other sites, I wrote that anything goes; and that I would find order in chaos. On Facebook and LinkedIn, I wrote that I needed a pre-existing relationship to connect. My mission to find order in chaos changed a lot. I learned a lot about myself and how I want to distinguish my use of the different tools.

What’s wonderful about Kotex online is their campaigns are not limited to YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter — but they’re also on Tumblr, Pinterest, and Google+. After nearly four years of powering this blog’s email and RSS delivery options, I’ve parted ways with Google and its free Feedburner service and embraced the paid service of Feedblitz. Feedburner used to be a wonderful company with an amazing tool that had responsive customer service — until Google bought them.

I didn’t know Bill at that time, but because I receive email alerts every time my name or a link to my website appears somewhere indexed by Google’s search engine, I clicked over to Poynter’s website. I joined them. Then, I watched the Chatter.com commercial. Around halftime, I saw an enigmatic commercial about Chatter.com.

Twitter lists are like Google+ circles. Over on Google+, where I have 1.4 I am also a big believer in a retweet for a retweet so when someone RTs my tweets, I like to check out their stream to see if there is anything interesting to share with my followers. The list feature is a great way to categorize people by interest.

When you end up in the first page of Google your traffic explodes. The greatest advantage of getting traffic through Google first page is that your average bounce rate decreases dramatically, because these users know exactly what they are looking for and they land in your nice well-crafted webpage.

Some bloggers don’t care if you socially share their articles on your Facebook wall, your Twitter feed, or your Google circles. Just because I am not inspired to add a comment and converse doesn’t mean someone else won’t comment. If you don’t know when you’ve written a premium post then no one else will either.
