After nearly four years of powering this blog’s email and RSS delivery options, I’ve parted ways with Google and its free Feedburner service and embraced the paid service of Feedblitz. Social sharing can also be customized and embedded inside the emails and RSS feeds. Photo of train by Bruce Fingerhood. Unacceptable.

So we moved some client sites to Feedblitz , others decided to use WordPress’s free built in RSS feed tool. Now, this blog is syndicated on several sites and I send the RSS feed to Triberr and quite a few other places and they seemed to be getting the feed, so what gives? Why not just use the built in RSS feed on my site?

Though niches that have more web savvy audiences like marketing or technology are more likely to be affected, this is going to impact anyone who has built up their RSS readership. Also, doing it now means you can alert them again in the future with enough of a gap to remind them without annoying people who don’t subscribe via RSS.

To build up a readership it’s crucial to offer your visitors to subscribe to your blog, so they get updated every time you publish a new post. The two most important channels are email and RSS. Feedburner offers solutions for both RSS and Email. For the RSS-part you can then use Feedblitz or Feedpress.
