I personally know that I check Tweetdeck, Facebook, and my email inbox far more often than necessary. If there’s a big yellow Tweetdeck button in my Dock or some links shared by my friends on Facebook, I’m going to want to click around. If I want to check my viperchill email I hit CMD + 1 and then type vcm.

My first major website made money through contextual advertising (Google Adsense) and selling ads on a CPM (cost per 1,000 impressions) basis. To do this, I use the Google external keyword tool. The tool gives you a good idea of how many people are searching for X ( X being anything) in Google.

The author knows this but I doubt he cares – the traffic he receives from Google must be incredible. played it safe with their portal, and then Google came along with their simple search interface.
