There is no real down side to being a content consumer first. Adding a link to your own content is a great idea when you comment on blog posts. Been known to show mercy though.

After the enormous missteps Facebook has taken lately with respect to privacy and control over our own content and a tidal wave of bad press, they’ve modified the settings and the ability to manage who can see our Friends has returned. Not surprisingly, people were none too happy with this change.

It is disruptive because it makes it more difficult to see the content I really want to see and comes across as being all about you, without regard for those on the other end of your check-ins. When someone posts too much content which doesn’t interest me, they are likely not a good connection for me. Still, it is your choice.
