The site does not resolve on smart-phone browsers, and if they sell products online, their e-commerce platform has no social functionality (no review functionality, no commenting functionality, etc). And the more intricate your external efforts become, the more social, mobile, and interactive your website must become.

The internet and technology ownership has changed everything: digital TV, mobile phones, iPods, weblogs, instant messaging, [and] social networking. Media snackers simply download them from the web and carry their whole music collection with them. Previously, to have a mobile phone, you needed a large bank account. It scares me.

It’s why T-Mobile succeeded with a flash mob. It’s really mostly about chance, and like I mentioned earlier in the comments, luck and timing. It’s why Susan Boyle’s “Britain’s Got Talent&# audition video is now hovering at 86 million views. It’s why she is now famous. It also depends on goals.

Threaded Comments – one of the largest feature missing out on Twitter was the ability to actually respond to someone. Plurk introduced a comment system which helps create a conversational feel. Brightkite: Email and SMS – mobile web is definitely the wave of the future. Make it so they don’t have to be.

Anyone can visit online meeting places like Digg and Reddit and promote the voices and opinions of others, and anyone can mobilize a group of people around a common cause on Facebook or elsewhere. A great example, one that recently affected me: A mobile phone manufacturer, called HTC, released a phone that had sub-par video performance.

On the other hand, Plurk is really new, and thus, Twitter wins on followers (and the fact that mobile access — via SMS — totally owns), so the Plurk discussions (for now) are at a minimum. They both have their places in the web 2.0 and social media sphere. You may find yourself comfortable using just one or both.
