IMAGINE YOUR REALITY | MONDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2012 Bigger isn’t better with networking events There’s a myth about networking which argues that the bigger a networking event is, the better it is and the more likely you are to find business. I’ve never found that myth to be true, and if anything have found that big networking events tend to be events where you briefly meet people, get business cards, and then promptly forget about the people you talked with because you are on to the next group of people. Tomorrow (December 8 th ) in London AIME wraps up the conference and event season with In-App Billing 2.0: EventsIn-app billing is shaping up to be more than a 2011 mobile megatrend; it may be the only way developers can make real money selling their applications – period. SCOTT GOULD | MONDAY, AUGUST 23, 2010 Using Social Media to Extend and Enhance Offline Events and Experiences Sure, you can get a long list of resources that will make your event what is called a ‘hybrid’ (a virtual and physical event), but how do you know which ones are the priority for you, and what is the strategy behind those tactics anyway? We’d already discovered that by putting bands in the show they’d bring their fans along, and that would increase our numbers, but it was when we latched onto MySpace that we discovered the ability to increase participation virtually, aside from the physical limitations of our monthly events. You get the idea. MORE >> -
