NOVEMBER 1, 2010 [Instant Messaging, SMS] On Facebook and the Death of Etiquette
Two years ago, no way I’d tell you that it would be acceptable to converse via text message/SMS with grandparents. Same with instant messaging. Sometimes people forget that the communication medium isn’t important – the content of the message is, along with the dynamic. Is it something that should be shared 1:1 or OK to share 1:many?

JUNE 27, 2008 [Instant Messaging, SMS] Web Worker Daily " Archive Busyness vs. Burst: Why Corporate Web Workers Look Unproductive "
Burst : Use better ways to communicate when available including blogs, wikis, IM, chat rooms, SMS, and RSS. Bursters know you should try instant messaging if you need a quick answer, go with a blog post if you’re announcing something, and use a wiki for archiving information useful to the entire team. Bursters know that you can use RSS readers with RSS alerts to track all sorts of useful events from system management to code check-ins to development schedule updates to mailing list messages — your email doesn’t have to serve that role. DECEMBER 4, 2009 [Instant Messaging, SMS] Communicating bad news in hard times
Being the bearer of bad news is never a pleasant task, but well-handled communications can help minimise the impact on an organisation while getting it wrong can cause permanent, even fatal, damage to a business’s reputation. A few years ago a Manchester company, The British Amulet, group made 2,500 people redundant by text message. The message said, in part, “you are being made redundant with immediate effect” Google the company now and you get 192 links… every single one relates to the SMS incident. This story is my editorial contribution.

Koka Sexton dot Com Home About Koka Contact Twitter FULL RSS Everything you ever need to know about Twitter I recently wrote about Twitter saying “Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to send “updates” (or “tweets”; text-based posts, up to 140 characters long) to the Twitter website, via short message service [SMS], instant messaging, or a third-party application such as Twitterrific. I thought I would put together a post for people to reference on everything you need to know about Twitter. What are others? Thanks. MORE >>
