The need for a social network that automatically aggregates all my “friends&# and then cuts off the irrelevant noise. Or are we in an infinite loop of growing out of social networks every five years? We agree mutually to allow someone to consume our feed of information, while consenting to consume theirs.

Path also taps into this need but the most exclusive social network is Pair where it’s just for you and your significant other. Trying to add in filters and prioritize friends and new feeds on Facebook is time consuming and confusing.

It’s a terrific way to post to a number of social networks, schedule posts and listen in on what’s going on, either by creating dedicated searches or creating streams of Twitter lists you’ve set up. HootSuite. I’ve been a HootSuite fan for a long time. Post Planner.

And when it comes to social media, “fair and balanced” is not easy to find, especially from the culterati (just look at Bob Lefsetz ‘ “Twitter Wilts” from yesterday; I’m not going to link to it, but you can find it via his Twitter feed, which is really ironic given his poorly-written diatribe).

Blink The thing with social networks, particularly one such as Twitter, is that the streams move so fast, you barely notice someone’s absence. – is this: if we are going to use social networks to build influence as a way to achieve organizational goals, we have to use them the way they’re meant to be used.
