There was a little get-together for tech reporters at Facebook headquarters today. Whenever Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, summons an audience because he’s got something to announce about Facebook, life as we know it grinds to a halt. Not only have I heard and seen a zillion blog posts and news reports about the latest Facebook changes in the hours following the press conference, many of the posts were even published during the press conference – all indicative of the frenzy to cover all things Facebook. As more and more cases of privacy issues involving social media accounts come to light, the world’s biggest social media player is becoming more vocal about its view on the situation. Facebook has said that lawsuits may be an option should employers or others invade the privacy of its users. This warning comes as the media has reported on more employees having issues with employers over their accounts and job applicants oftentimes being asked to provide their social media habits to potential employers. When it was reported that Facebook tracks our moves even when not logged in , many social sites, blogs, and forums erupted with mild outrage. Facebook responded quickly, noting that “Facebook does not track users across the web.
