Google wants links in advertorials to be tagged with the nofollow attribute and the FTC requires full disclosure. Take a look at the example below. The likelihood of paid links appearing in the sections that I’ve highlighted in red below is a good example of this. I’m using Search Engine Land in the example above.

Links can do this regardless of whether or not they contain the “nofollow” attribute, contain redirects, come from a site with a high PageRank , and so on. See the first paragraph of this post as an example. I’m referring to legitimate, high-quality editorial contributions to only the sites with the highest standards. .

However, the system doesn’t work like this: ‘one member = one vote’. So a link from a high authority site like The New York Times will be more powerful than a link from a low authority site, for example, a new site with no inbound links of its own. It refers to the strength (authority) of an individual page and is measured from 0–100.
