Just because I manage to get 500 visitors a day from an article I submitted to article directories doesn’t mean you can get that much traffic doing the same thing. Write truly informative and useful articles related to your niche, and publish them on WikiPedia. What works for me might not work for you, and vice versa.

Bookmark your main site, and sub-pages at social bookmarking sites. Submit articles to at least five article directories. You need to have content ready to submit to article directories, press release sites, those social sharing sites, and as guest posts. Make sure this page has a link to your site.

The defacto way to increase the number of backlinks to your site often involves tactics like guest posting, article marketing, directory submissions, and even finding link sources by searching through your competitors’ backlink data. Of course, you don’t just need to use article directories.

For my Reading and Researching use cases, Im focused primarily on Collecting, Reflecting, Connecting (somewhat) and Publishing (somewhat - although I would call it sharing). Although it has been several months since the list has been updated, there is a huge compilation of blog and RSS directories listed at TopRank.
