Take it with a grain of salt, of course. If things go awry one day, course correct on what isn't working. If you want a juicy, insider's look , read author Sebastian Marshall's recap of his experience with a New York publisher. I can tell you from my own experience that what he writes is largely accurate. But I digress.

And of course many of my "friends" are people I’ve met and connected with IRL at a conference or other event. And truthfully, many of my fb friends are more "acquaintances" than friends. But that’s OK. I "know" them. I "know" them. And I "know" every far-flung cousin in my large, extended family, promise.

Of course, eMarketer has the stats to back that up: there are some 26 million bloggers in the U.S. Many of those self-expressive bloggers are, instead, putting their words down on Facebook pages and in bullet-like Tweets. And why not. I’m guilty myself. in 2010, compared with about 150 million Facebook users.
