Maybe you’ve set up a blog to run AdSense and earn money from the search engines. That doesn’t mean they can’t be search engine friendly too. A peppering of keywords here and there will help your blog be more visible to search engines. My mentor taught me to write the blog post for human first then to the search engine.

I like to focus on building search engine traffic to my sites because once you have rankings you can usually sustain them with little effort and the traffic they send is very targeted. If you’re entering an industry with a brand new site, the last thing you want to do is wait that long for some good search engine traffic.

Discussions start from questions, and this is a great way to get a conversation going in your community, especially if you make bold statements on a hot topic. I believe they can be great for getting search engine traffic (and making more money from Adsense) but only for now. Glad you liked my domain name!

1 in 4 search queries have never been typed in the history of the search engine – every single day. You would make a lot more money if 10,000 people landed on your site looking for a gadget to purchase – which you sold – rather than 50,000 untargeted visitors where your only hope is for them to click on an Adsense ad.

Consistent statistics: Again, if buyers can see big fluctuations in your search engine rankings they will consider it a warning sign that you might be selling for a reason that you’re not disclosing. With free blogs like Blogger and Tumblr the lines are less clear—who own the domain, the content, the theme, etc.? Be personal.

The best type of traffic for blogs is search engine traffic and mentions from other blogs. In order to get mentions on other blogs then you need to be focusing on being involved in the communities for that industry online and providing the very best content that you can. You can of course optimise specific pages on your site.
