Right now, BfG is in beta, which means you have to sign up for an invite code either via Baydin’s website or request one via Twitter , and be patient as they work through bugs.

A friend, whom I have introduced to Twitter, sends me emails with questions about various Twitter tools. When someone who is starting on Twitter or doesn’t have much of a network uses them, it tells me several things about them. They aren’t serious about building a strong social network.

So I’ve been keeping abreast of the quake updates via social media. Facebook feeds have been churning with news stories, from heartwarming footage and tales of survival, to warnings about scam sites and reports of police capturing looters. Social media is being used by New Zealanders to help them deal with the quake.
