But it makes sense: the more often your blog is “seen&# on other sites, the more people will bookmark it, subscribe to your RSS feed, and type in the URL directly. Twitter is the most productive, driving more than half of all non-blog social media visits. Syndication is also helpful.

Just because I manage to get 500 visitors a day from an article I submitted to article directories doesn’t mean you can get that much traffic doing the same thing. Submit your blog to directories relevant to your niche, like InsLink.com (an SEO/webmaster directory). What works for me might not work for you, and vice versa.

Google likes a natural link building footprint, which includes links from various sources, like blogs (in-content and comments), article directories, Web 2.0 properties, social bookmarking sites, forums, just to name a few. If you leave more than one comment on the same post, make sure you link to different pages each time.
