Yeah, I don’t really know what you’re wearing, or not, when you’re actually tweeting, but please put some clothes on that avatar. You have the default Twitter avatar or are using a photo of your dog. Even on a list of 11 items, it is worth repeating #1 – Go put some clothes on. What about you?

I needed to differentiate Digg from social media because they actually are part of a distinctive community (and as you know, I’m very passionate about Digg so it really did deserve its own category). I get fixated on one community and ditch the last, yet I still have my profiles on them and they usually get outdated within minutes.

You have to create content, be part of many communities, and proceed incrementally. Too often we see social media strategies that involve putting photos into Flickr, videos into YouTube or the creation of a Facebook application and then never revisiting the environment to engage with the communities around this content.

With Tweet Spinner, you get a DM archive listed in an easy-to-read page that is searchable (via Ctrl+F on your keyboard; additional search facilities would be useful for accounts with thousands of DMs). You might also want to see that they are future upstanding members of the community. You can choose to delete spam DMs or all DMs.
