The Future of TweetDeck

I wrote a post about the potential of Twitter to buy TweetDeck just two weeks ago. (To be fair, that first posted on my employer’s blog.). So what happens now? A lot of doom and gloom if you believe the people over at TechCrunch (they also broke the story that a deal was done between TweetDeck and Twitter on Monday). I don’t buy the doom and gloom declaring the end of TweetDeck.

around the Twitterverse last week with the news that Twitter is in talks with TweetDeck to purchase the ridiculously popular third-party service for the low, low price of just $50 million. Considering UberMedia was rumored to be in the mix to buy TweetDeck for $30 million just a few weeks ago, that’s very interesting news. Will Twitter shut TweetDeck down if it buys it?
Twitter Has Acquired Tweetdeck

Tweet Tuesday this week, the deal between Twitter and Tweetdeck was sealed. There have been rumours of the acquisition for several months now, but finally it was made official: Tweetdeck will be joining Twitter. Tweetdeck has so far existed as one of the leading third-party Twitter desktop applications. In other words, it is a great tool to track real-time conversations.

Check this out Google Chrome users, TweetDeck has created an app, named ChromeDeck, that runs it’s multi-column twitter client in a tab. On my second monitor I have TweetDeck and Evernote going. If Twitter isn’t going to pull the trigger, how’s about Hootsuite or Tweetdeck offering these features? I’m no technical expert, but I’ve got to believe something could be done.
