How many social networks can you handle?

Jeff Esposito

I like to consider myself pretty tech and social media savvy. However, I have recently found myself pondering how many networks I could realistically handle on a personal basis. In my day job, I am constantly evaluating networks and what resources would be needed to add them to the company’s mix. Unfortunately, that due diligence and tightening of the belt rarely happens when I am farting around with my phone or playing on a computer.

Reviewing Fierce Loyalty

Jeff Esposito

A while back I saw an update or email from the Community Roundtable mentioning an open Q&A with Sarah Robinson on her now book Fierce Loyalty. While the topic sounded interesting, I could not make the chat (damn conflicts) and picked up a copy of the book. When it arrived, I was kind of shocked at the thin stature of the book, but packed it in my bag for a flight to Vegas last week.

Roughing up the content marketing game

Jeff Esposito

The ads read aloud: “You Want the NFL? Go to the NFL.” You’ve probably heard it a few times on Sunday. While you might think of the NFL’s unique programing or Thursday Night Football games on the NFL Network, it really points to their content marketing machine. The NFL’s website has evolved into a 24/7 news site that entices fans to visit regularly to consume their editorial and video.

School PR, give Google a chance & bad salt water

Jeff Esposito

What a roller coaster of a week. First there was Sandy (thoughts and prayers are still with friends and family in Jersey/NY) followed up by a sick day and now ending the week with a few days alone with baby Espo. Hopefully your week was good and if you were impacted by Sandy that things are starting to get back to normal. Have a great weekend and catch you on Monday.

Get off your ass, forgetting Facebook, dark side of content

Jeff Esposito

Why am I up at 4:30 writing this post? That was more of a rhetorical question for my groggy brain, but for some reason it decided to keep my internal clock on East coast time and that it would be good to wake up while folks are still casino hopping. I spent the past two days at Oracle’s School for the Socially Gifted conference where I was nominated as one of the finalists for community manager of the year.

Thanksgiving weekend NFL game predictions

Jeff Esposito

During the course of the NFL season we predict the weekly outcomes using data from social media along with some formulas ( more on that here ). While this might sound odd, our social NFL predictions are doing decent 11 weeks into the season with an 86-73-1 mark following a 9-5 showing in Week 11. Since predicting games is only fun if you do it against a friend, I decided to put my money where my mouth is to an extent.
