To its credit, Google also penalized its own Japan division who used the pay per post tactic in an attempt to compete against Yahoo. You can see how many people are subscribing to your RSS feed and from which sources, and if you use the new Google Analytics integration, you can see how many clicks each individual post is getting from feed readers. Around two years ago I had over 350 feeds in there as I was a total information junkie.

I’m competing against them in one industry and all factors would suggest I should outrank them, but I simply don’t. Attractionhowto.com is a really terrible website and doesn’t even have the six pages I counted unless you include their RSS feed. 1 site ranking Wikihow. What did you get out of the post?

Traffic - There are millions of webmasters out there and they’re all competing for targeted eyeballs online. This, of course, is why so many bloggers care about their feed count. If a site you write for has a large audience then that means there are more visitors who can click through to your website and subscribe to your feed.

I went from having over 150 blogs in my feed reader in the last few years to just 12, purely because I was seeing the same content over, and over (and over) again. target="_blank" rel="nofollow"> 66 Comments book says: May 6, 2010 at 11:11 am Glen, I think, you got the idea for this post from your personal experience. January 1st : 3,284 January 31st : 3,814 Change : +530 Last month the site grew by 260 subscribers so it’s nice to see that doubling traffic has almost directly doubled feed subscriptions. I want to help you live it too, so make sure you grab the feed. If you can’t tell, I really love this lifestyle. What a great leap!
