What functionalities do you think WordPress, vBulletin, and other common platforms need to be able to better develop communities? Beyond the core of people who want to demonstrate their expertise in a niche by blogging, will blogging continue to grow, or will community-oriented sites become more popular? Again, super post!

As far as Custom search concern, you have to create new page with page title “Search Results&# and paste the code from Googles Search results code text box. Add “&exclude=ABC&# (ABC is the page id of NEW Search result page.e.g. Good luck with the new design. Is your RSS dude taking a crap?

Founded by four ex-Googlers, FriendFeed allows you to subscribe to your friends’ updates across 35 social networks and to stay up to date with the content they’re discovering and sharing across the web. And I do get an RSS feed from FriendFeed for content matching my search criteria. Google, Wikipedia and FriendFeed.

That’s not really convincing social proof. Then, when you’re joining a community for the first time, you’ll need to study the users and slowly build relationships with them. But, like good Social Media community members, I’m thrilled to be able to help my parents out and give back as well!

But with all other social networks, there are rules of engagement that are determined by the community. A well known news outlet contacted me a few weeks ago asking for advice on building visibility to her articles that were submitted to a social news site where I help moderate. There’s more to be done, such as listening to your community and actually speaking amongst them (and not just at them). Humanize the Brand.

A search engine optimization expert is usually focused on changing URL structure, optimizing title tags, and making code tweaks to a website to make sure the search engines find the site and the pages contained therein. Users submit timely news articles to Sphinn, and the community votes up the best stories to appear on the front page.
