Yesterday I wrote about how great journalism should be impartial rather than neutral , and today it’s the related subject of distribution mediums – in this case, what should and shouldn’t be reported on via Twitter. Does Twitter differ to reporting on the same event for print or TV? Is reporting on Twitter different?

Social media connections are those I know through a variety of online forums, the blogosphere, Twitter, and the like (but I generally don’t befriend someone immediately; I still give it time). I get fixated on one community and ditch the last, yet I still have my profiles on them and they usually get outdated within minutes.

Some even boast high rankings and good sized communities. His blog is full with regular small byte-sized updates about U2, sports, movies, and more. It took me 6 months to acquire a good amount of traffic and cultivate a community on my blog and the same goes for any new blogger. Glen , too, got an early start. Way to go Kids!

Before rolling out ANY type of social media application, whether it’s blogs, or a wiki, or microblogging, make sure that you do an assessment of your user culture first. Yammer is a microblogging application similar to Twitter, only it’s focused on businesses. Are they rewarded or punished for collaborating?

Use an open source microblogging service like Yammer or QikCom. If your organization already uses Instant Messaging, microblogging offers the potential to turn those one-on-one conversations into group collaboration. I, too, find that Twitter has been incredibly powerful for me to connect with real life colleagues, readers of Techipedia, family, and everyone in between. I’m also something of a Twitter purist. Enter a second Twitter account. With Twitter being so incredibly large and vast, there are different types of mini-communities.
