Should it be the media community judging as gatekeepers on what is the right medium? The last gasps of the media community as gatekeepers? As a reader, I can choose print, TV, radio, websites, social networks, podcasts, photo sites, audio microblogs. Does Twitter differ to reporting on the same event for print or TV?

Some even boast high rankings and good sized communities. His blog is full with regular small byte-sized updates about U2, sports, movies, and more. It took me 6 months to acquire a good amount of traffic and cultivate a community on my blog and the same goes for any new blogger. Glen , too, got an early start. Way to go Kids!

Before rolling out ANY type of social media application, whether it’s blogs, or a wiki, or microblogging, make sure that you do an assessment of your user culture first. Yammer is a microblogging application similar to Twitter, only it’s focused on businesses. Are they rewarded or punished for collaborating?

I needed to differentiate Digg from social media because they actually are part of a distinctive community (and as you know, I’m very passionate about Digg so it really did deserve its own category). I get fixated on one community and ditch the last, yet I still have my profiles on them and they usually get outdated within minutes.

With Twitter being so incredibly large and vast, there are different types of mini-communities. I ran a sports site until just recently, and I LOVED to talk sports from that Twitter account. not so much sports fans). Sports – latest trades, rumors, and opinions 4. Call them cliques if you will.
