The free ebook. Then, on a whim, I thought I would just turn it into a free ebook and give it away on my site to anyone who subscribed by email (nothing new). Hundreds of people were subscribing to my blog to get this free ebook. Why is this ebook so successful? I started to wonder why this ebook was so successful.

FeedBurner. FeedBurner will handle the stats for your RSS feed like the number of subscribers as well as allow you to create an email subscription option. In general, if you paid for something and it’s not working accordingly, make sure to try their site and contact them directly if there isn’t a community forum.

My feed jumped from 8,500 to over 11,500 according to Feedburner. At first I assumed it was a bug, but it has stayed this way for over a week so I’ll assume everything is working as it should (Feedburner usually drops, not increases). As for Feedburner: every day my feed count changes by 1-2k.

It is also great for socializing and building your own community. It used to be that the RSS resource of choice was Feedburner. See the note, in the below image, signifying the discontinuation of Feedburner as we know it. I have been using it ever since FeedBurner went away and I have never regretted that choice.

Yet, if I notice a “11,652 subscribers&# feedburner chicklet before clicking the close tab, it’s far more likely to make me stick around. Where my first one has nearly 10x the traffic, it doesn’t have nearly the same amount of interaction from the community. I really appreciate every post you write.

Subscriber Stats Feedburner is so erratic that I just can’t take it that seriously anymore. Although I don’t have any goals for the size of the community here, I still think it is an interesting metric to monitor. Despite the current flaws in the system, I will continue to report on the numbers that it gives me.

It’s more like a mini-eBook, without the price tag. To my knowledge, TechCrunch became the first ever blog to reach 1 million subscribers – something they proudly displayed via their Feedburner chicklet. The community choose the ‘news’, and that just what the community want to see.

With over 4 million RSS subscribers according to Feedburner, it’s clear they’re not struggling. I mean, the history is there attached to the author/brand in the space they’re in and it would seem their page rank, traffic stats and online community created are their social proof. Yet, they are being surpassed.
